HydroxyElite Review

HydroxyElite is a weight loss supplements produced in America by Hi-Tech Pharmaceuticals. The company was previously known as USPlabs. While trading under their former name the FDA took legal action against them for marketing supplements that contained the illegal ingredient DMAA. On July 2, 2013, USPlabs voluntarily destroyed its entire stock of DMAA-containing supplements and agreed not to manufacture any further supplements that contained the ingredient. The main ingredient in HydroxyElite is DMAA.

DMAA warnings

According to the label, HydroxyElite is an intense stimulant and an extreme thermogenic. Both these are true of DMAA and the blend contains a number of other stimulants, including caffeine. Many other weight loss supplements contain caffeine and it offers a number of benefits, but combining it with DMAA can increase the dangers involved.

Potential HydroxyElite Benefits

HydroxyElite has been formulated to be an improved version of USPlabs’ OxyElite Pro. This was one of the products the company destroyed. Hi-Tech Pharmaceuticals claim their upgraded version can trigger high speed fat burning by increasing fat oxidation and accelerating the metabolism. The blend also contains garcinia cambogia to provide appetite suppression.

Other benefits include:

  • Improved mental focus
  • Boosted energy levels
  • Increased lipolysis
  • Curbed hunger cravings

Key Ingredients & Blend Potential

  • DMAA (1,3 Dimethylamylamine): An organic chemical compound that is often claimed to be a geranium derivative, but is actually a synthetic ingredient. It provides powerful stimulation, and is a very good energy booster, but it is unlikely to directly contribute to weight loss and possible side effects may this ingredient one to steer clear of.
  • Caffeine Anhydrous: A powerful stimulant that is naturally occurring in certain plants including guarana and coffee beans. The anhydrous form of caffeine has been refined and made into a powder. It acts on the central nervous system to improve focus and provide extra energy. Caffeine can also increase thermogenesis and trigger fat burning.
  • Rauwolfia Canescens: An alkaloid extracted from certain trees and shrubs. It is very similar to yohimbine and is believed to possess comparative powers of stimulation. After it has been absorbed it binds with alpha-2 adrenergic receptors in the blood and appears to increase the metabolic rate.
  • Bauhinia Purpurea: An ingredient sourced from an Asian orchid-tree. It is a traditional treatment for ulcers and some animal-based studies indicate it may be useful for protecting the kidneys from disease. It is also believed capable of stimulating the thyroid gland into releasing extra hormones that can then speed-up the metabolism.
  • Bacopa Monnieri: A derivative obtained from a perennial creeping herb. Practitioners of Ayurvedic medicine use Bacopa Monnieri for treating neurological problems and some studies suggest it may possess anti-ageing abilities. An isolated study suggests it may also have metabolism boosting abilities.
  • Garcinia Cambogia: A very popular weight loss-providing ingredient sourced from an Asian fruit. The rind of the fruit provides hydroxycitric acid (HCA), which has the ability to supress the appetite and interfere with the body’s ability to convert excess carbohydrates into fat.
How to Take HydroxyElite –  One to two capsules should be taken each morning and one capsule after lunch.

Customer Feedback

The sites that are marketing the product often showcase very positive customer reviews, but one review posted on an internet forum details some worrying side effects:

The first pill caused me to salivate heavily for the rest of the day and made me feel very sick and ill. I thought it may be just a case of letting my body get used to the ingredients though, so I persevered with them for the rest of the week. I can confirm the pills really do appear to help you lose weight, but they interfere with my balance and cause a feeling of pressure behind my eyes. My short term memory has also been affected and I’ve experienced pains in my liver, headaches, and chest pains, so my advice is stay well away from HydroxyElite, they may help you lose weight, but all the side effects make it too risky to use.”

Side Effects, Health Issues & Supplementary Information

The fact that HydroxyElite contains DMAA presents a cause for concern. The FDA considers the ingredient to be extremely dangerous and issued a “stay away” warning in July 2013. At the time the warning was issued the FDA had received 86 reports of adverse effects related to the use of DMAA. These included heart problems, psychiatric disorders, nervous disorders and death.

Purchasing Options & Considerations

HydroxyElite is not available from Amazon of any of the more reputable online stores such as GNC or VitaminKing, but a little time spent doing online searches can usually turn up a few smaller suppliers that are willing to market the product.

HydroxyElite Review – with DMAA (1,3 Dimethylamylamine) — 3 Comments

  1. Very good article, i’m about to purchase HydroxyElite form [website edited] and I found this author very knowledgable appeared to me. I’m going to continue my research since my and my girlfriend both want to try it out. However reading You But Skinny article on this supplement, i’m gonna consider the effects of DMAA before ordering it for sure.

  2. I am trying to find out if the hydroxyelite (with DMAA)a discontinued item. If it’s still good, how do I go about ordering this item?

    • Hi, DMAA is no longer on the open market in most countries due to its side effects. The FDA ordered all products containing it to be discontinued and destroyed in the USA and they are probably the last country that sell mainstream supplements to have still been making it. We would advise against using DMAA.

      Thanks
