According to the marketing material, Trim X3 assists weight loss in three ways:

What is Trim X3 and How Does it Work?

When the metabolism is increased the body starts to burn calories faster than normal and is more likely to deplete the supply obtained from food. The body will then need to begin burning fat to obtain extra calories.

The combination of a restricted-calorie diet and a faster metabolism can be very effective for encouraging weight loss so many supplements are designed to work in this way.

  • Slendesta Potato Protein Extract: A patented ingredient manufactured by Kemin. The company claims Slendesta makes weight loss easier by encouraging a feeling of satiety that makes it easier to stick to a calorie-restricted diet.
  • South African Hoodia Gordonii Extract (20:1): A cactus extract that is often added to dietary products in the belief that its presence will help suppress the appetite.
  • Glucomannan: A natural fibre that has proven value as an appetite suppressant. However, health experts in Europe state products need to provide 1g of glucomannan and be taken three times per day to be effective. Trim X3 is only taken once per day and the amount of glucomannan provided is insufficient.

Capsimax Plus Blend (263mg)

  • Caffeine Anhydrous (200mg): Caffeine’s ability as a stimulant is good for providing extra energy and sharpening mental focus. Scientific study shows it can also boost the metabolism and encourage thermogenic fat burning. The amount of caffeine provided here is similar to that obtained from two cups of coffee. The combined amounts provided by the other ingredients in this blend should provide an amount that is similar to that of another 1/2 cup of coffee.
  • Capsicum Fruit Extract: Some studies suggest supplementation with capsicum can boost the metabolism and encourage thermogenic fat burning. Read more about this ingredient here
  • Black Pepper Extract: A popular supplement inclusion that speeds up the absorption of other ingredients.

Thermogenic Energy (299mg)

  • Advantra Z: A trademarked ingredient that provides the fat burning stimulant synephrine.
  • Pure Energy: A proprietary blend that is 43% caffeine and is designed to be absorbed into the blood a lot faster than other sources of caffeine. Betancourt don’t say how much caffeine this addition is likely to provide, but its presence in the blend will cause each dose of Trim X3 to provide more caffeine than 2 1/2 cups of coffee. How much more is anybody’s guess.
  • Guarana Extract (38.5mg caffeine): A tropical fruit that provides a slow release of caffeine.
  • Green Tea Extract (6mg caffeine): Research shows supplementation with green tea extract can speed the metabolism and encourage thermogenic fat burning.
  • Yerba Mate (5.5mg caffeine): A plant extract that is often brewed and drunk as a tea called Mate.
Usage Instructions – Three capsules are required once per day and should be taken with a full glass of water. Optimum results will be obtained if the capsules are consumed half-an-hour before lunch and it is important not to take Trim X3 within three hours of bedtime or to exceed three capsules in any 24-hour period.

Trim X3 contains a number of ingredients that should be able to provide the promised weight loss benefits, but many of the ingredients used in the blend are stimulants so Trim X3 may prove to be too powerful for stim sensitive women to tolerate and side effects are quite likely.

We feel Trim X3 is probably more suitable for women who have a naturally high tolerance of stimulants or have built up such a tolerance over a period of time through the use of other stimulant-rich supplements.

AMPilean PinkAMPilean Pink is a female-only fat burning supplement developed by Lecheek Nutrition. The company is based in Arkansas and market a number of other products, all of which seem to be designed to be more appealing to bodybuilders and other gym-goers.

As far as we can ascertain AMPilean Pink first became available in 2015 but by the time of this review (June 2016) the product was no longer listed for sale on the Lecheek Nutrition website.

When products vanish from manufacturer’s websites it generally indicates they have been discontinued. This seemed strange for a relatively new product, so we did some checking and found this warning letter, sent to Lecheek Nutrition by the FDA on April 24, 2015.

The letter refers to AMPilean Pink and another product called AMPitropin (also absent from Lecheek’s website). Both products contain AMP Citrate (also called DMBA). The FDA says AMP Citrate cannot be classed as a dietary ingredient or lawfully marketed as such in the USA.

At the time of this review some third-party retailers were still marketing the product, but AMP Citrate was not mentioned in the ingredient list.

Further checks brought us to this blog post, published on the Lecheek Nutrition website. It states the company has decided to stop producing AMPilean and AMPitropin until they “revamp the formulas”. The post appears to have been backdated to October 2014.

What is AMPilean Pink and How Does it Work?

  • Reduced water weight
  • Healthy skin

AMPilean Pink contains dandelion root, which is a diuretic, so it will probably help reduce the amount of water the body retains.

This may tip the scales in the right direction, but water levels will return to normal when supplementation is discontinued. True weight loss occurs when body fat is reduced.

Key Ingredients

One capsule appears to provide:

  • Vitamin A (300 IU): Supports the immune system and is also necessary for healthy skin and good eyesight.
  • Vitamin B6 (15mg): A water soluble vitamin that acts as a co-enzyme during the breakdown of fats, carbohydrates, and proteins.

AMPilean Pink Blend (447mg)

  • Di-Caffeine Malate: A compound that is made by bonding caffeine with malic acid and was originally used in Coca Cola. It is believed to offer the same benefits as caffeine (extra energy, fat burning, improved focus) and be easier to tolerate.
  • Dandelion Root Extract: A popular diuretic that can reduce the amount of water the body retains.
  • Octopamine HCl: An organic chemical that is believed to function as a metabolism booster and may also improve lipolysis.
  • Green Coffee Bean Extract: The chlorogenic acid provided by green coffee beans is included for its purported fat burning abilities and may further enhance weight loss by regulating blood sugar levels and lessening the desire for sweet food.
  • Hydrolyzed Bovine Collagen Powder: A collagen-providing ingredient. Many claims are made about the benefits collagen supplements may provide including improved digestion, fat loss, and better skin quality.
  • Garcinia Cambogia (50% HCA): A fruit extract that provides hydroxycitric acid (HCA). The compound has a good reputation as a weight loss provider, but the Oz website states the extract should contain at least 60% HCA so, in this case, the quality of the extract used is questionable.
  • Bioperene: A patented black pepper extract that assists the smooth absorption of other ingredients.
Usage Instructions – Only one capsule is required per day and Lecheek state it should be taken after breakfast.

Customer Feedback

Bodybuilding.com has one customer review left by someone who claims the product improved her focus and gave her a “bit of energy”.

It is not the most enthusiastic review we have ever read and we were unable to find any reviews on other sites.

However, the caffeine content may make the product unsuitable for anyone who does not tolerate stimulants well.

Anyone who is using medication or has any health concerns or worries about the product or its suitability should consult a doctor before using AMPilean Pink.

It is designed in the same style as the other products and appeals to customers who are willing to spend a little more than the average on their supplements.

What is Performix SST Glow and How Does it Work?

This is a trademark protected system that allows each TERRA phase to be released in the most effective time.

TERRA phase 4 comprises the nucleus of ingredients at the center of the capsule and TERRA 1 consists of the ingredients housed in the capsule’s outer casing.

TERRA phases two and three involve the two layers that are dissolved and absorbed between them. Each stage is intended to offer a specific benefit.

  • TERRA 1 (Introduction Phase): Raises the metabolic rate to encourage thermogenesis. This is a process that causes the body to lose extra calories by converting them to heat.
  • TERRA 2 (Chill Phase): Users are promised a “chilling” effect that is apparently caused by peripheral heat transfer.
  • TERRA 3 (Sustain and Block Phase): Anti-adaptive nutrients trick the body into maintaining it elevated fat burning.

It’s hard to say exactly how effective each ingredient is likely to be because their individual inclusion rates have not been provided, except for caffeine.

Each serving of SST Glow will provide slightly less caffeine than two standard cups of coffee. Caffeine is a proven metabolism booster and fat burner. It is also a stimulant that can provide extra energy.

The other ingredients in the TERRA Pod Ballistic Energy Blend are stimulants as well (Synephrine, Yohimbine). Other ingredients are included to increase mental focus and cognitive function (Huperzine-A, Ashwagandha).

Black pepper increases the bioavailability of the stimulants it has been blended with, allowing them be absorbed faster and more efficiently.

Moving on to the Lipo Beautifying Skin Complex, lipowheat is reputed to be capable of nourishing the skin and ensuring it is adequately hydrated. The other inclusions are not without merit either, but again, we would need to know more information about dosages to comment with more confidence.

Usage Instructions – The normal dose is two capsules every morning, taken on an empty stomach, but new users are advised to take just one capsule per day so they can check for tolerance issues.

Yohimbine is probably the ingredient we are most wary of as it can have some unwanted side effects. Over-stimulation and anxiety are included. The dosage included does not impact most people in this way, even if it is unknown.

It is not possible to buy SST Glow directly from the manufacturer, but a number of online stores stock the product and it is also available from Amazon, but it’s not a cheap product.

At the time of this review the Amazon price was $57.33, GNC were asking $109.99, and the price in the Bodybuilding.com online store was $74.99. It is clearly “boutique” pricing for a high-end looking product.

In theory SST Glow may provide the kind of results Performix claims it will, but the the level of stimulation may be strong for people unused to stims, or sensitive to them.

The price will also be an issue for some people, especially bearing in mind the fact the product is not backed by a guarantee.

Will it help women “look, feel, and be their best”? In some cases the answer may be yes, but the women who cannot tolerate the stimulants, or feel let down by the product and are unable to get their money back, will answer differently. Hence the mixed customer comments.

In our opinion, cost doesn’t reflect anything but itself. A product’s efficacy is what we are interested in. And Performix works for some of us and not others.

Again, it’s down to stimulant tolerance, specifically that of Yohimbine as it is known to cause some issues of anxiety in some young people.
